- Interior decorators charge by the hour or they charge a percentage of the amount of merchandise that was purchased. For example if a client bought $20,000 worth of furniture and the decorator charged a 10 percent fee they would receive $2,000. Anywhere from 5 percent-15 percent or $20-$50 per hour is common.
