How do I use a One Stop?
Visit the One Stop Career Center nearest you and, if you want to get the most out of their services, go through the whole process. This includes:
- Talking with the intake receptionist about what you’re looking for, like training, education, interview skills, help finding a job, etc.
- Filling out a personal history form, which asks about things like your work experience, specific work skills and your income level (to see if you qualify for additional free services).
- Meeting with a career counselor and working with them to figure out what services you’ll need and what free services you qualify for.
- Taking a test to measure your math, reading and critical thinking skills. Based on the results of this test, you and your counselor will develop a career plan that maps out how you’re going to get ready for and find a job that’s right for you.
- Following the career plan that you and your counselor developed.

- Driver’s license or other photo ID that has your Chicago address on it
- Birth certificate
